We are an independent charity dedicated to helping adults living in Wokingham Borough in their search for employment through practical help, advice and support. Since we were established in 1992 we have helped over 6,300 job seekers.
We operate an open door policy for unemployed people. Many are referred to us from the Jobcentre Plus offices in Bracknell and Reading. We work closely with these Agencies and advertise our services throughout the Borough to ensure as far as possible that potential clients are made aware of the help that is available to them.
Our main source of funding is an annual grant from Wokingham Borough Council. Additional funding is received from Wokingham, Earley and Woodley Town Councils and many of the Parish Councils in Wokingham Borough. Grateful ex-clients and other generous local businesses and charities also offer support from time to time.
In consequence of the financial support we receive, the services we offer clients are entirely free and confidential.
Once clients have registered with us, they are welcome to make use of our services as often as they wish. Some clients will visit on a daily basis to make extensive use of the facilities, others will drop in less frequently. Staff are always on hand to assist clients to make best use of the facilities and to provide one-to-one advice on all aspects of the job search process. The range of our information and advice services is described in detail under Services.
We operate an Equal Opportunities Policy that aims to ensure that neither clients nor employees receive less favorable treatment on the grounds of gender, marital status, age, race, domestic circumstances, colour, national origins or disability. We aim to ensure that all our services are available to anyone with a disability who wishes to use them. If you have a disability that might make it difficult to access our services, we would be pleased to try to help. Either email us or telephone 0118 977 0517 to discuss how we can help.
Where we feel that clients could be helped more effectively by another agency, we will provide information and, if the client wishes, make arrangements for access to the other service. For example, we will generally refer potential clients under the age of 20 to Connexions who specialize in helping people in this age group.
