Staff are always on hand to help job seekers use the various facilities available and provide one-to-one advice on all aspects of their job search. Members of the team are all skilled in providing help and advice and can draw on many years practical experience in widely different careers. In consequence, it is possible to provide information and advice to match each client's needs.

A brief pen picture of our staff is set out below.

BUSINESS CONSULTANT with experience ranging across a wide spectrum of human resources and project and business management disciplines. Proven success as a people manager and coach, most recently supplying retraining and outplacement services for a major local company.

CHARTERED CHEMIST with a lifetime of experience in scientific research and development in the food industry, leading research teams and also working under contract as a consultant. Has experience of self-employment, having started a small business.

CHARTERED CIVIL ENGINEER with wide ranging experience in the design and construction of civil engineering and building projects. Experience includes client liaison, procurement, planning, project and company financial control, contract administration and the hiring and training of staff.

CONSULTANT ON ORGANISATION DEVELOPMENT AND HR in the public and private sectors. Earlier worked in a major manufacturing company in a variety of positions including production and quality leadership. Eight years experience as HR Operations Manager.

IT MANAGER responsible for recruitment and retention of technical staff from many different backgrounds to produce an effective team. Also involved with charities and local government where teamwork, interpersonal skills and consensus working are essential attributes.

CAREERS SPECIALIST gained front-line experience in the Berkshire Careers Service, offering information, advice and guidance to adults considering a career change. Also supervised trainees on modern apprenticeship schemes. Able to help inexperienced computer users.

MATURE STUDENT AND TEACHER with a BA in Humanities and an Open University Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Taught French in secondary schools and worked with students with special needs. Holds a Certificate in Counselling from Wokingham District Counselling Service.

PERSONNEL MANAGER having worked many years in both the commercial and voluntary sectors. Experience in HR spans IT, manufacturing, motor trade, business start-up and self-employment. Personal experience of redundancy and unemployment and successfully returning to work.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT IT MANAGER experienced in software implementation and business consultancy. Recruited and managed teams of technical staff. Involved in the outsourcing of technical services and the management of IT service providers.

SENIOR PERSONAL ASSISTANT dealing also with interviewing, recruitment and training of non-technical staff and providing out placement services to staff. Trained as a general front-line counsellor with ARC. Particularly able to provide advice to clients returning to work after a career break.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS EXPERT with skills ranging across technical, business planning/strategy, financial modelling, sales/marketing support, proposal, contract negotiation and all aspects of staff management. Ran own one-man company for six years. A recent client of WJSC.

RECRUITMENT CONSULTANT AND ADMINISTRATOR experienced in advising on CV preparation and interview techniques. Earlier career included the advertising and newspaper industry. A diploma trained counsellor currently practising and supervising in a local counselling agency.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER for 15 years. Following redundancy, worked in interim HR positions across a wide range of industries including retail. Specialist expertise includes recruitment, performance management, coaching and training.

HUMAN RESOURCES AND CAREERS GUIDANCE SPECIALIST currently studying for a post Graduate Diploma. Worked in the private, public and voluntary sectors: as a Human Resources Officer, an Advisor with Citizens' Advice Bureau and; Work Preparation/Enterprise Officer for a local Education Business Partnership.

If you feel you would like to help local unemployed people get back into work and have appropriate experience and can spare 2 hours a week on a regular basis, we would very much like to meet you and show you what we do.
